Additional Web Applications Links

There was one web application that allows for students to build there own prairie. With 1st Graders working together they would be able to make their own prairies and have an aid or their parents read through the different plants, animals, reptiles, and insects that they can include in their prairies. The plants inform them of each one that would survive in a prairie as well as the others. With parents, they would be able to discover new aspects of plants how certain plants survive in Prairies because we don't have a lot of prairie lands here in Utah.

The students will be creating their own little garden using the plants they learn about. I found a great website that is a little game that allows the students to discover all the parts to a flower. Although they will not be dissecting a flower it is a good concept to learn because then they know the parts when they plant their flowers and can draw pictures of them and know what each parts purpose is. There are two great sites or little interactives that help to teach the concept of plants and how they grow and their parts. One is called Plant Life and another is called Living things Life Cycles from the BBC Schools website for students. These two will help my students in the webquest to learn about plant life as well as what goes into them.

With the prairie, plant life, and living things life cycle interactives, students will have the opportunity to learn more about their purpose in the task they have of creating a garden for the school.
